Motherhood isn’t soft. It’s strength in disguise.
It’s holding space for little hearts to grow while gently setting aside your own. It’s showing up—again and again—even when your tank is empty. It’s making choices, every single day, that place someone else’s comfort, curiosity, and growth above your own.
As mothers, we’re asked to be everything. Comforter, protector, guide. And in that process, our emotions can become background noise—quieted in the name of love, in the name of presence.
This Mother’s Day, I want to name that.
To hold it up gently. To say: I see you. I see us. And I want to thank the mothers who’ve wrapped us in warmth, even when they felt unseen. The ones who put aside their own needs so their children could feel safe enough to discover who they are.
As a mom raising multicultural children, I often think about identity. About how loud the world can be when it tells our kids who they should be—what they should look like, eat, wear, think, believe. It’s a constant, overwhelming noise. And all I’ve ever wanted is to give my children something quieter. A space that says: you don’t have to choose. You don’t have to shrink. You don’t have to wait for a holiday to celebrate all that you are.
That’s why I started Ary + Maan.
This brand was born out of love—for my children, Arya and Armaan, and for families like ours. It’s a space where identity can stretch and dance and play. Where culture meets comfort. Where heritage doesn’t come with hard lines or compromises. Here, our stories are stitched into soft cotton. Here, our traditions are everyday, not occasional.
And lately, that message has felt even more personal.
My 4-year-old son recently started exploring what it feels like to wear dresses. And I’ve watched him twirl with the purest joy. He’s not thinking about gender or norms—he’s just exploring. Just being. And my role isn’t to correct or redirect—it’s to receive. To say: it’s safe. You’re loved. You’re seen. Not because of what you wear or do, but because of who you are.
This is what it means to raise children with roots and wings. To honor where they come from, while giving them the freedom to fly wherever they feel most like themselves. It’s what I hope Ary + Maan gives to every family that shops with us—a reminder that comfort isn’t just about fabric. It’s about belonging.
So today, and every day, I celebrate the mothers who carry the invisible weight of love, identity, and legacy.
May we continue to make space for our children to become who they are—unapologetically, joyfully, fully.
And may we, as mothers, give ourselves that same permission too.
With love, always—
Katy
